Hagen-Renaker Figurines
Hagen-Renaker is renowned worldwide for their beautiful figurines, most notably their horse figurines and other animal figurines. Hagen-Renaker was founded in 1945 by John and Maxine Renaker (nee Hagen) in Culver City, CA. Initially they produced ceramics in their garage including decorative bowls and dinnerware. In 1946, bolstered by the positive reaction to their initial works, they moved to a new factory in Monrovia, a suburb of Los Angeles, and expanded production. In 1948 they began making miniature animal figurines which quickly gained popularity and became their best selling products. In 1952 they expanded upon this successful idea and began producing a new line of larger animal figurines which was named Designers Workshop (often abbreviated as DW). These figurines were unique among animal figurines at the time as they featured an attention to detail rarely seen in ceramics. Hagen-Renaker’s intention with the DW line was to create animal reproductions which possessed an unprecedented level of realism. The DW line included faithful recreations of numerous animals including cats, dogs, birds, and of course horses. In 1955 Hagen-Renaker began their collaboration with Disney which continued until 1960. During this 5 year period they produced over 100 Disney-based figurines including sets based upon Cinderella, Bambi, Fantasia, Mickey Mouse, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Dumbo. Over the following years Hagen-Renaker introduced several other lines of popular ceramics. They continue to create beautiful works of art to this very day and are still a family run company.
Hagen-Renaker vintage and modern figurines and other collectibles continue to grow in popularity with collectors. Here at The Prudent Collector we are pleased to help you find the best prices on Hagen-Renaker figurines and collectibles of all types.
