Clarice CliffClarice Cliff is considered by many collectors of Art Deco to be one of the most important and distinctive ceramics designers of the 20th century. She is most well known for her distinctive Bizarre Ware. The Bizarre family of ceramics featured Clarice's unique style which consisted of very bold colors and geometric shapes. At the time it was considered rather revolutionary and it quickly grew to be quite popular throughout the 1930's. Eventually the Bizarre name encompassed so many different designs that Clarice's earliest works with the pattern began to be referred to as "Original Bizarre" in order to differentiate them from newer pieces. In addition to her famous Bizarre pattern Clarice created a number of other famous families of patterns including Fantasque, Ravel, Appliqué, Gayday and Crocus to name just a few prominent examples. Crocus, which was made from 1928 until 1964 was her longest produced pattern. Clarice Cliff's beautiful designs adorned all manner of pottery pieces including vases, dishes, cups and saucers, bowls and even coffee pots. To this day her unique works are very popular with collectors around the world.
