Lino Tagliapietra is perhaps the most famous and beloved creators of beautiful and world-renowned Murano art glass. Born in Murano, Italy in 1934, he apprenticed under the master glass artist Archimede Seguso at an early age, setting the stage for his illustrious and long career beginning in his 20s. Lino has been at the forefront of the Italian art glass community since the 1950’s and his exquisite creations have gained international acclaim and numerous prestigious awards. His glass has been displayed in some of the most distinguished galleries and museums around the world including the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Chrysler Museum of Art of Norfolk, VA.
For many years he worked with a variety of Italian glass companies including Oggetti but in the 1990s he began working independently and continues to do so to this very day.
