Door Pottery is located in Madison, Wisconsin and was founded in 2001 by Scott Draves, previously a co-founder of Ephraim Faience Pottery. He had left Ephraim because of creative differences and sought to create a new pottery studio that was more in line with his creative vision. His vision for Door Pottery was one in which artistry came first and business decisions were a secondary consideration. Owing to this each artist at Door enjoys complete artistic freedom without having to be concerned with how a particular design might affect the bottom line. Each design is produced in very limited quantities with no two pieces being exactly alike. The uniqueness of each Door Pottery creation and their great beauty are key reasons that they are so popular with aficionados of fine American handmade art pottery.
