Well this is certainly sad news. The Waterford Crystal gallery will close to the public next month.
Workers at the visitor center received letters on the morning of Friday the 8th, telling them that their employment would cease on February 5, 2010. Up to 20 workers at the gallery were on three-month fixed contracts and it is now thought that this announcement ends those contracts ahead of time. It was announced earlier this week that the manufacturing plant at Kilbarry is to be sold.
