The Fenton Art Glass Company will be featured on the Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs show on Tuesday, November 10 at 9:00 p.m. The show was contacted by a Fenton employee in 2007 who was hoping to gain publicity for the then struggling glassmaker. At that time the company was on the verge of closing their doors forever. In 2008 Mike Rowe and his crew arrived and filmed an episode. Fenton president George Fenton said, “The production crew came in and filmed the process and worked with our employees in the behind the scenes work that many people have never seen because it is not in our public tours.” Mr. Fenton also stated that the company will be creating glass pieces such as paperweights for Mike Rowe’s web site – Mike Rowe Works.
Thankfully things have picked up for Fenton as they now employ approximately 125 people. We hope they continue to create beautiful glass works for years to come!
