May 10, 2011 – Well today brought interesting news for collectors of Barbie dolls. Donna Douglas, the actress who played Elly May Clampett on the hit 1960’s TV show “The Beverly Hillbillies” has filed suit against Mattel, the maker of Barbie dolls. Ms. Douglas claims that Mattel is “engaging in the unauthorized use of her name, likeness, image and attributes” with their Elly May Barbie doll and its packaging. She is seeking damages of $75,000.
This might just be a great time to snap up existing stock of this Barbie doll before it’s possibly pulled from store shelves and taken off the market. If that happens you can bet that prices for this doll will skyrocket!
