Waterford has been an active partner of the New Year’s Eve celebration in New York City since 1999. Now we find out that in December they will debut an upgraded six ton ball which is comprised of an astounding 2,268 Waterford crystals and backlit by 32,256 Philips LEDs. The ball is capable of producing 16 million colors. Waterford also committed to an upgraded sponsorship deal in order to make it well known who manufactured the ball. in addition Waterford will launch a $2.5 million advertising campaign in which the new ball will appear in national magazine ads along with the tagline, “The sparkle of a new beginning.”
