Here at the Prudent Collector one of our favorite types of objets d’art are blown art glass paperweights. And of all the art glass creators out there one of our absolute favorites is the Orient and Flume Art Glass Company in Chico, California. Orient and Flume has been making one-of-a-kind art glass creations since 1972 and the studio has become a fixture in Chico. Owner and co-founder Douglas Boyd started the art glass studio in 1972 at a home between Orient and Flume streets, but soon moved to its current location on Park Ave. Orient and Flume has influenced many glass artists over the years with their unique approach to glass blowing. They are well known for encouraging individual creativity in their artists.
Admirers of Orient and Flume are welcome to visit the studio Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on fair weather days.
