Lladró, the well-known Spanish manufacturer of porcelain figurines, premiered its new POS and inflight packaging to travel retail buyers at this year’s TFWA World Exhibition. The Lladró Retail Corner tower dispenser houses up to 100 different figurines, ornaments and lifestyle accessories, such as cufflinks, with a height just under 1.40cm and an area of 0.25sq m. The tower also incorporates a locked stocking area which can hold up to 30 product boxes, leaving both displayed product and replenishments on the sales floor and with fast access for staff.
“This self-service unit does not require dedicated sales personnel, thus improving profitability,” the company said. The new POS unit has been launched with an initial offer of four product ranges, incorporating the brand’s best-selling items, allowing the user to adapt the range to local market demographics. Lladró is also considering offering local exclusives that can be purchased as a keepsake of a visit to any destination.
The self-service POS development has been made possible thanks to the creation of new transparent product boxes, which allow the pieces to be viewed without having to take them out of the box. A plastic film keeps the fragile porcelain pieces safe. This new packaging has already raised interest among airlines for its inflight sales possibilities, the brand said. The concept is achieving great success at Harrods’ duty free stores at London Heathrow Terminals 1, 3 and 4 and was Lladró’s key highlight at the Cannes duty free fair, according to the firm.
