The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is now home to Dale Chihuly’s largest blown-glass installation which is entitled “Fireworks of Glass”. This dazzling multi-piece sculpture stands a staggering 43 feet tall and is comprised of 3,200 pieces of blown glass! It was installed in the museum’s central atrium and can be viewed from all sides by circling the ramps that take you up to the 4th floor. In addition, just under the tower rests a ceiling which is filled with 1,600 pieces of Chihuly art glass. As you circle this blown glass masterpiece you can read notes that detail how Chihuly created this massive glass tower.
While visiting this wonderful exhibit families can also take part in a number of art glass themed activities. One exhibit invites you to create your own colorful sculptures with plastic shapes. You can also sit on a revolving platform and look up at the glass ceiling. Another exhibit below the ceiling consists of computers which allow you to blow glass virtually.
This is a wonderful exhibit and promises fun for the entire family!
